Applications are invited from suitably qualified candiates. Please use this online sytem to submit your application, unless specified otherwise in a particular job advert. The offerings here include both restricted (internal) and open (external and internal) job opportunities.
ABOUT THIS ONLINE APPLICATION SYSTEM
This system is intended to automate the process of applying for job. Before starting to apply, please first read the Guidelines. thoroughly, as well as the FAQs.
Browse the listed jobs and click on the desired one to view details.
After you have satisfactorily read through the details, proceed by clicking on the 'Apply for this Job' button.
The next view gives you options on how to apply. If you are new to the system, click on the 'New Applicant' button, enter your names, email address and telephone contact and submit the form.
A message will be sent to you on the email address that you have registered. Open the message and click on the link provided, to confirm your email address.
When you click on the link in the email message for the first time, you will be prompted to create a password for your account. If you have already created the password, the link will take you straight to your account where you can apply for jobs or edit your job applications.
For the your first job application, select 'New Data' under the 'Select Data Source' dropdown. For other applications, you may select the data source from one of the jobs that already exist on your account.
Fill in your biodata and other requested information and submit.
The system will then prompt you to attach testimonials to the job application.
You are required to upload a scanned copy of a Job Application Letter for each job that you are applying for. The letter should be handwritten and signed by you, and is to be addressed to: The Director, Human Resources Directorate, Makerere University, unless otherwise indicated in a particular job advert..
When you are through, click on 'Done' button, which will take you back to the main page.
On the main page you can access your application by clicking on the 'My Mak Account' link.
Under your account, you will be able to edit/update or delete your job application as long as the deadline for submission has not yet elapsed.
You can also apply for more jobs using the system by clicking on the 'Apply for a New Job' button.
When applying for another job, under 'Data Source' you may either use data from an existing job application or select 'New Data' if you prefer to enter fresh data and testimonials. However, for each new job you are required to upload a separate Job Application Letter as indicated in No.9 above.

Frequently Asked Qeustions
Q1: There seems to be no Submit button on the form.
Make sure that you have selected a Data Source. Please read the Guidelines for more information on this.
Q2: The form seems to be inactive.
Check your internet connection and ensure that it is at a good speed. If the internet connection is too slow, some of the scripts that run the application may not be downloaded, and this could cause strange behavior. Reload the page if it is behaving in an unexpected manner.
Q3: I am not receiving the email link to verify my account.
The email link is supposed to come immediately, at most after 10 minutes. Some email servers are slow, and it may take longer.
First check your spam folder.
Ensure that your email does not filter messages through waiting lists such as BoxBe.
Check that your email box is not full.
Try to register as a New Applicant using the same email address. If the email address is accepted, proceed and register it again. Otherwise, follow the next step.
Log in as Registered User using the registered email and any password, such as 12345. The system will prompt you on getting the link re-sent to you.
Q4: The "Apply for New Job" button has disappeared, I cannot apply for a new job.
This happens when you exceed the maximum number of positions you are allowed to apply for during a particular advertisment period. To apply for another job, you have to delete at least one of the jobs currently applied for on your account. But later on you may be able to apply for more jobs if some deadlines on the jobs that you have applied for have passed.
Q5: There are no more empty rows in a table where I can add more data.
Fresh rows are automatically generated for tabular data when all required fields in previous rows have been filled properly. If that condition is met, new rows are generated when you hover existing rows or when you click at a place other than the current cell of the table.
Q6: The application seems to behave strangely, it does not seem to be working properly.
Q7: Can I delete or change my data on posts that I have applied for Yes, as long as the deadline has not yet passed. After that, the jobs you have applied for will be locked and archived onto your account. You will be able to view them but you will not be able to edit them or delete them from the archive. Note, however, that your biodata is submitted once and you may not be able to alter it without first contacting Management.
Q8: I have completed all the uploads yet the progress is not 100% and I cannot see the 'Done' button. This can happen in case your biodata was not properly entered, possibly due to error, ommission, power, internet issues, log in session interuption or browser cache issues. At 12% you are still just completing the validation stage. At 56% you have not uploaded any of the required documents. At 93% progress, 7 items are missing: identification, dob, gender, marital status, place of birth, nationality and address (possibly due to an error you made when entering dates). Fix this as follows:
Log into your 'My Mak Account'.
Click 'Apply for New Job' (without modifying the previous job).
Under 'Select a Job* to apply for:' search and select a new job to apply for. This can be any job you have not yet applied for, provided that you qualify for it. The job(s) that you have already applied for will not be among those in the search drop-down lists.
In Data Source, select to Use a job that is already on your account (If you select New Data the process will be much longer).
Fill in the required biodata and submit (the Submit button may be in the middle of the form rather than at the bottom).
If the system says that you do not qualify for that job, repeat from Step 3 using a job that fits your maximum qualification.
After submitting, log into your account again and delete the new job that that you have used to enter your biodata, if you do not want to apply for it. It will be at a lower percent because it requires a new Letter of Application, among others. The other job should have progressed to Done 100%.
Q9: The system shows that I can upload only one Certificate After uploading one set of documents, you will be prompted on uploading more documents and/or editing the uploads.
Q10: The form does not show inputs for uploading documents The uploads view comes when you have successfuly pressed the 'Submit' or 'Update' buttons to submit that form.
Q11: I have not received any confirmation that the job has been submitted, yet I clicked Done at 100% progress. A Job is updated automatically when you click a Submit or Update button. To check on the status of the application(s), log into 'My Mak Account'. If a job is at 100% Done progress, you can still edit it, until the deadline has passed. At that point you will receive an email notification whether the job has been submitted (if it is at 100%), or otherwise, if it is not at 100% Done progress on that day. However, you may notice no changes on your account for some hours and the email may not be sent immediately because the submission process takes some time.
Q12: Can I apply for more than one job?
Yes, but you should not apply for more than three (3) jobs in a given period. The system will not allow you to apply for more than four jobs, but it allows you to change the jobs applied for as long as the deadline for the jobs has not yet passed.
Q13: Are reference letters to be attached?
That depends on what the job details say. If the job details do not specifically mention that you submit reference letters physically or onto a given email address, then possibly the reference letters are not needed at this stage, you only need to specifiy the referees and their contacts. Buy you may attach any reference letters you have through the 'Others' option on the uploads view.
Q14: The system is refusing to upload documents.
This could be due to several reasons:
The documents you are trying to upload may be too big in size. Try and split the up.
The documents may be of the wrong format. The formats allowed are seen as tooltips when you hover over each file input. For CV only pdf is allowed, for the others only pdf, jpg and png are allowed.
Your browser may have logged off your session, e.g. due to inactivitiy or long breaks. You may need to re-fresh the page and/or log in another time.
Your browser or computer or internet may have issues. Try alternatives.
